Keep her Country Wedding in Carrickdale

Keep her Country Wedding in Carrickdale

When you arrive at a brides house, there are sometimes nerves, sometimes excitment and even on the odd occassion everyone is relaxed.  As I pulled up to Tanya's house, I was greeted with the upbeat tunes of country music.  Tanya's dad is more of a gadget man than my husband (and that is saying something) and he had the impressive grounds around the house wired up with a state of the art sound system.  Before I even had the cameras out of the boot, I was bopping away to some classic country music.   Father of the bride welcomed me to their home and showed me how to turn the music up or down as I wished throughout the house.  Did you ever watch the movie "Holiday" when Kate Winslet wakes up in the house share home in LA and plays with all the gadgets - well thats how I felt when the TV rose up into the roof when it was switched off.

I know I am going on about the house, but it was the perfect location for an "OK" or "Hello" styled shoot.  The gadgets, space and decor was a dream for any wedding photographer.

Bridal room with dresses

Mum and Dad gave their room up as a dressing room for the morning.  It was spacious and perfect for getting ready.  Mums headpiece from Rosalyn Rafferty was the perfect match to her outfit from McElhinneys of Ballybofey.

Creative Ideas bridesmaids

Red is a great colour around Christmas time but the tone is so important.  These dresses from Creative Ideas Bridal in Armagh were elegant and rich in colour and fabric.

leaving home with Dad

As the only girl, Tanya is a real Daddy's girl.  Love the box of Mass leaflets at the bottom of Saint Miachaels Chapel in Clady where she was married.  The sign said - "Dad, of all the walks we have taken together, this is the one I will remember forever"

During our final wedding meeting with Tanya, she said she really wanted snow for her winter wedding.  She had a full length white fur hooded coat which reminded me of a snow queen.  December was the mildest I can remember, but I hated the thoughts of that amazing coat going to waste, so using a little digital artistry, we created a magical winter wonderland image from shots we took at the lantern lights outside the church.  We love how it turned out.

Winter wonderland wedding

During the winter, the hours of sunlight are so short.  Rather than travel to a location for wedding photographs, we decided to go back to Tanya's house for some photographs. This is such a personal thing to do for your wedding images.  Its unique and really tells your story.  Remember that winter theme and snow that Tanya really wanted, - well we brought along a snow machine and lots of fake snow to help create the look she was looking.  It was great fun on such a mild and bright day.

Around brides house

The landscaped gardens were perfect for some intimate shots and the bridal party could enjoy a few beers inside while we got a few shots around the gardens before joining the rest of the party inside.

During the photo shoot, the country music blasted around the ground and through the house.  The party had well and truely started, but it was then time to go to the Carrickdale Hotel for the wedding reception where a huge surpise would await all the guests.  The carrickdale is decorated for christmas by Martina Crilly of Creative Designs in Newry.  The gree was a great backdrop for Christmas photographs.

In the heat of the hotel and with sparkly lights, the girls were up for lot of fun and posing.

Country shoes for bride

Tanya was ready to dance in her country boots.  She said the dress was bought to match the boots.

The big surprise that night which had been kept hush from everyone was the huge Country Star Mike Denver who opened up the dancing and performed for all the guests.  This is a family that knows how to party and this was a "Keep her Country" Winter wonderland fairytale wedding from start to finish. We would like to thank Tanya and Kieran and wish them all the best for their future together.
