A calf and a wedding in Donegal

A calf and a wedding in Donegal

Some couples buy each other a gift for the morning of the wedding.  Lots of guys send bunches of flowers, champagne or chocolate.  Girls also send gifts.  Alot of girls do boudoir shoots as gifts and others send cufflinks.  When I arrived at Seans house on the morning of the wedding, I saw a very unique gift from his wife to be Shaunagh

Wedding present to farmer groom is a calf

Yes you got it - a new calf.  He was thrilled and was very proud of new bovine gift.   When Shaunagh came to me for her final arrangements, the message I got loud and clear was that she and her family loved loved loved Christmas and that is why she had chosen December to be married she wanted a Christmas Wedding. So it was Christmas Jammies for the girls getting ready and alot of excitement around the house

Shaunagh is a hairdresser and she could not even get the wedding day off.  With granny arriving to the house, she just had to get at her hair.  The girls all looked stunning with their very elegant hair styles and the snowflake head pieces to go with the wedding theme.

When the calf was settled, Sean got down to the business of getting himself ready.  We photograph alot of weddings from farming families.  There is so much dedication and commitment.  The animals always need fed and looked after.

Everyone then made their way to the local church in Clogher for the ceremony to begin.

As they meeted and greeted their many guests, I took the opportunity to capture the beautiful mums on the alter.  They both looked fantastic.

The snowflake themed continued in the room with the cake and table decorations.  We left the hotel on a very wet, cold wintery night but the Silver Tassie was serving warm mulled wine, fires lit and music playing.  It was a warm cosy wintery christmas feeling just as Shaunagh and Sean had dreamed of.  Congratulations to Shaunagh and Sean on their recent wedding.  Wishing you all the happiness for your future together.  Thanks for letting us be part of your day and photographing such a lovely couple.  Hope the calf is growing big and strong.
