Getting Ready for your Portrait Session

When booking your studio portrait session, consider which family members you would like included. Is the portrait for your immediate family. Why not consider the extended family also. Generation portraits are a little more difficult to organise but well worth the effort. Get the grannies, the mummies, the sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren all together to record a family heirloom and a moment in time.
When you have more than one person in a portrait, it is really important to tone the clothing of all the members. If this is not done, one person can stand out of the portrait over all the others based on their clothing colours.
For groups, keep the tops plain. Do not wear tops with logos or writing as your eyes tend to read them and distracts from group of people.
If there are babies in the portrait, book your session around their sleep times. Whatever time they laugh and giggle the most with you at home will be the time they are at their best during a portrait session.
If you wake on the day of a portrait session and you find kids are slightly unwell, teething or if they have had their injections within 3 days of the portrait, just call the office and reschedule. We all want to enjoy the session and you want the babies to be at their best and give us the laughs, giggles and expressions. We all have to work around babies.
If you are bringing toys or treats for children. Keep them in a sealed bag and give them to the photographer on the day. It is best to tease them into the session rather than throwing everything at them at the start.
